Last season, Sebastien Boucher was snowboarding in British Columbia and he wandered out of bounds and got lost in the deep snow. The all-volunteer North Shore Rescue Team gathered dozens of volunteers, dispatched 3 helicopters, and took hundreds of man hours at a cost of $10,000. The good news is they found Sebastien and he is grateful for that.
Since his rescue, Sebastien has helped the resort create a video to help inform future backcountry skiers and snowboarders. After that he hosted a hockey tournament in his home town and raised the $10,000 to give back to the rescue team. I think this is a pretty awesome response, and one you don’t hear about very often.
