If there is one team that stands out as being ridiculously gnarly, it’s Creature. CSFU takes it to the next level with some of the most serious pool skating I’ve seen in a while, not to mention burly street stuff. And if it wasn’t nice enough of Thrasher Mag to put this video up, they’ve also thrown up a bonus video of David Gravette killing it, so enjoy!

Word on the street is that just this morning it was announced that Source Interlink, the parent company of Grind Media which runs Surfer, Surfing, and Snowboarder Magazines, has purchased Transworld Media from their parent company, Bonnier Corporation. After the recent news that Elan was bankrupt and the more recent news that CAPiTA purchased the Elan factory, the industry sure seems to be in quite the state of renewal.

As someone who grew up loving both Snowboarder and Snowboarding equally for their unique portrayals of snowboarding, this comes as a shock to me. The big concern is what will happen to these magazines. Seeing as Source Interlink now owns Snowboarder, Snowboarding, Skateboarder, and Skateboarding, there’s a good chance that not all those titles will be sticking around. The magic of the printed zine has been decreasing as it is, so eliminating two of them could very well turn more people off to this source of news. It will certainly be interesting to see how this plays out in the near future, but for now I would like to thank Yobeat and Boardistan because that’s where I got all my info on this. Cheers.

I would like to start this blog by saying we love it when people send us stuff, because more often than not, it’s some amazingly ridiculous video from the depths of the internet. This absolute gem of a How-To video came from our Facebook friend Mauricio. I have a feeling the people who made this didn’t take it incredibly seriously, but if they did, that makes it even better. We’ve begun working on our own Learn to Longboard video series, but thanks to this game-changer we’re just going to have to start from square one!

Keeping that pimp game strong?

Movie time! Hopefully all our friends and followers enjoyed the recent post with the Thrashin’ full movie, so I thought today I’d bring you one of my personal favorite skate movies as kid; Grind. It’s a classic tale of a struggling skater just looking to get a sponsored. This movie really has it all! Hilarious hijinks, cheesy movie skating, and some serious babes. It doesn’t take much else to make an awesome movie, so sit back, relax, and enjoy Grind.

I miss snowboarding. Sure it’s been 90 degrees lately and skate season is in full effect, but I just can’t stop watching snow edits. This latest one comes from gnarly females of Too Hard from a day riding Park City. I am particularly stoked on this video because my roommate Amanda Hankison (@staywild for you Instagrammers) has a SOLID shot in it of a back 3 on! So enjoy, and if you miss the snow too much, we still have $40 tickets to Snowbird up for grabs!

As amazing as snowboarding is, it’s nice to have other creative outlets. Pro shred Jordan Mendenhall and ex-pro shred Will Tuddenham channel their creativity through the band Wildcat Strike. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them live at Urban Lounge and they were fantastic live, so check out this quick interview Ashbury did with the band and be sure to check them out on Spotify or at wildcatstrikemusic.com.

This is cool. It’s not everyday you can buy something you want and help someone else out in need. REAL & Green Day teamed up and made these decks and all the proceeds will go to the Children’s Hospital in Oakland. I think this is an awesome collaboration. You are taking two of the free-est things in existence – skateboarding & punk rock – and combining them to help out kids who probably don’t get to leave the hospital very often if ever. All you gotta do is buy a deck or tell a friend to buy a deck and you have helped out. Also, keep REAL in mind next time you need some gear. They are good people.

Good to see this event has made the Summer X Games. Lizzie Armanto is the favorite to win, but there is some steep competition with Nora Vasconcellos and Mimi Knoop showing up for the major event. The final is Saturday May 18, 4-6PM Eastern time. That’s 2-4PM our time.

All I gotta say is lay another shrimp on the barbie! This is almost an hour of skateboarding free of charge from our homies down under. If you haven’t invested in a hdmi cable from your computer to your tv or a huge monitor for your computer or an apple tv or an xBox with xBox live you need to step up your entertainment game. Skate videos are awesome but skate videos on the big screen are whatever is better than awesome. 52 minutes of action on an iPhone is beat.
