I'm really exited to utilize the stiffer, Vibram outsole of this boot for climbing the wind scoured faces of Colorado's high peaks. Plus the grip of the sole will be great for scurrying around the rocks up top. I'm confident this will give me the secure footing and speed I was lacking climbing these ascents in a conventional snowboarding boot last season. Also, the boot feels like it will really reduce foot fatigue when skinning on long tours. We had so much snow last season that I would have been able to skin all the way to the summit of a long approach, but my feet hurt so bad that I had to climb the last leg. With a solid boot like this I can keep the skis on my feet and off my back on this grueling tours while still having the asym flex and feel of a softboot for riding powder and softer snow. The Thromoflex liner heat formed perfectly to my foot and I know it's legendary for warmth. Plus this spring I can finally get rid of my 10 pound clicker crampons and purchase some new light weight Grivel Crampons to go with my Deeluxe Spark boots.
