Nitro Powder Gun 178cm Swallowtail Snowboard
Swift, Silent, Deep is the motto of this discontinued swallowtail model from Nitro. It has since been replaced with the wood core model below. This board was made with a foam core cap construction that makes it able to obtain a perfect mix of flex, stability and control in deep powder. This board also has a turned up tail, making it more maneuverable. Anyone who has experienced this board in deep powder has a hard time going back to any other board. the wood core swallowtails nitro made to replace this board have to much camber and the nose is pointing down making the board submarine unless your leaning in the back seat so it kinda defeats the reason your on a swallowtail in the first place. this model was the blue print for many other top swallowtail boards in the market today with a softer flex pattern that allowed the board to float better.
With the 195cm boards selling for $1500.00 if and when you can find them, being able to buy one of these gems at any price is like finding that no ones been in your favorite powder stash a week after the last dump! So get them while you can, cause they are not making any more.

This board is a very different ride to the sabre model , the nose width is much thinner which makes the board much more carvey but its t still very taught. My first ride on it was on fast packed groomer with 20 cms on top, the board literally flew across the surface throwing up insane roosters, the nose didn't seem to hydro so much as anhilate thru the pow on top. on the edge it was uber controlled, absolute zero chatter, which is a big difference to the sabre. the sabre felt lighter and quicker under feet, but broader and a bit more cumbersome , but also a bit more floaty in non deep stuff. although the SDD is much more dynamic. The SSD. is a stiffer ride than I anticipated, esp thru the nose, I was (hoping) for a bit less rigidity, but I guess I got used to softer rides of the volkl selecta , this is not for the faint hearted, nor for the jibby tight tree runs, its for point shoot , it is really quick and taught and likes nothing more than to be ridden hard on long straight lines , although ive not had it in past the thigh deep stuff yet , I cant comment on its float factor , but it is NOT a board for gelende riding, nor for inside the ropes. its too big and thin for even small controlled runs , this needs wide spaces and long fast arcs, the best run I had was ona non groomed shut trail for a km and half, althjough it was that wide to really test it out, iot absolutely smoked it down In record time , id like to trey that agin with another foor on top! so I know where to ridr thisw,m and its not an ever yday stick..... luckily for me when it gets good.., I have JUST the place! for it!

when the snow is deep don't think of taking anything other than a swallowtail this board is the perfect combination of all things good when its bottomless powder flexy but stable performance , it is easy to build confidence from wide open bowls to tree poaching, you will quickly forget about the size and feel right at home on this board

Did it just snow 30 plus inches? Then there is no question which board to bring. The Nitro Powder Gun is one of the funnest boards I have ever rode. I took it out to Powder Mountain just outside of Ogden Utah on a day they just got 30 inches. We were there for first chair and it was completely untouched. First run I laid that thing out, sending up huge rooster tails and getting super low to the ground. I was able to charge through everything and stay afloat way better than all of my friends. It had the speed, the control, and the quick turn agility like I had never experienced. Nitro Powder Gun I love you.
