We’re within the two-month mark of resorts opening up here in Utah! We’ve been frothing at the mouth dreaming of those glorious champagne powder days while not forgetting those killer bluebird groomer days with your best buds. This is the point in the year where new gear rolls into the store and we get to nerd out on all the tech specs.
With all that new gear talk, we are stoked to say that our 2022 Never Summer snowboard lineup has arrived in store! Bomb-proof boards with diverse shapes and profiles, plus they have one of the best sidecuts in the game. One board from Never Summer, in particular, that has our attention is the Proto FR. While snowboard profiles have remained rather stagnant for the last many years, this bad Larry came into fruition and got us all thinking differently. 
Rocker profiles in the past have usually have had rocker between the feet with two separate camber zones underfoot. The Proto FR changed everything we’ve thought was the truth and now has three separate camber zones with that new camber zone between the feet and placed two rocker zones just outside the middle camber. This makes for a responsive and stable feel that gives you that power and pop from traditional camber but also the floaty, forgiving, and smooth ride that comes from rocker profiles. All of these ingredients combined to create a freeride lover’s dream deck that may be one of the most versatile boards we’ve seen to date!
The other snowboard we wanted to highlight for 2022 is the Never Summer Hammer snowboard, which is an anomaly in Never Summer’s lineup with its full camber profile! Even though this isn’t technically “new” this year, it was a late-release last season so this is the Hammer’s first full year in the lineup. It has a slight early-rise rocker in the nose but nothing crazy, this board is majorly cambered no doubt. Pair that directional camber profile with a slight bit of taper and setback, then add in Never Summer’s insanely effective sidecut and you get a hard-charging powerhouse for pinning it all over the mountain. We would consider this board a great do-it-all board that can rip pow laps and chutes in the morning then go shred some park or groomer laps when the mountain blows out. A much-needed addition to make their lineup feel complete, the Hammer fits the bill perfectly.
We also saw some changes from 20/21 to 21/22 in which boards they decided to cut from their line. For the 21/22 season, Never Summer gave the boot to the Westbound, Chairman, Dipstick (which was already limited last year), Heritage (HUGE surprise on this one), Westbound Splitboard, Atom Splitboard, Boys Bantam (replaced by Kids Yutes), Girls Starlet (also replaced by Kids Yutes).
