I chose this longboard video today because it shows a bunch of my favorite things in one place, but the main thing is shredding drainage ditches. I grew up in Texas back in the 80’s riding fish tails with big neon powell-peralta wheels. My parents really wanted me to be in the cub scouts and honestly I had no interest until they introduced me to my new brotherhood of skateboarding scouts. Our den mother was my friend J.J.’s mom and she was dating a biker. She fed us and realized very quickly that we were not that into tying knots or making fires (well, legal fires) but we were super into skating. So, she took it upon herself to hand make merit badges for skateboarding. There was the downhill merit badge, the slalom, the boardslide and the toughest of them all – the ollie. Her boyfriend was super cool as well, and one day he and his buddies packed up their pickup truck with some coolers of soda, hot dogs, and a ton of quik-crete and we headed down to Fort Worth, Texas where the drainage ditches were long and wide. He and his buddies poured a ton of transitions while our awesome den mother cooked us up a dope lunch. Then we skated the ditch until sunset. So, after that long ass story you will see why I picked this video – just a ton of buddies skating the ditch having a great time.
