Los Angeles Skateboard RIOT! Bake & Destroy!

Oh my gosh! The kids are out of control these days with their free movies and carving anarchy symbols into scared, hiding tattoo shop owner’s cars. Leave it to Hollywood and the po-po to blow something completely out of control.

Let’s think about how we could make sure this never happens again.
#1 The venue/company should have hired adequate security/parking/traffic police to make sure that the 1500 people who showed up for the free screening would be safe and informed.
#2 The venue should have had some sense that when you throw a free skate movie in a city the size of Los Angeles, more than 600 people are going to turn out – therefore you need to hire extra staff as well as potentially open other venues or at the end of the day make it invite only.
#3 The media continues to hate against skaters. Why do dogs and cops have such problems with humans on 4 wheels? If you have ever talked to a skater they are the most CHILL people on the planet, hell, they are way nicer than most surfers, graffiti artists, football players, etc. But their long hair and large t-shirts make them oh so scary!

The real story here isn’t the fact that 1500 skaters left a movie theater en masse when they were turned away. The real story here is the fact that the venue should have had an exit strategy, local law enforcement should have set up a new traffic pattern, and America’s police should not break out the riot gear EVERY TIME THEY FEEL LIKE IT! It’s up to parents and adults to stand up and say enough is enough. The youth of today have not grown up with the respect for authorities that the people of the black and white tv era did, and personally, I don’t think we are that far from tossing molotov’s and rocks in the streets! It’s a good thing those were rejected skaters and not a group of rejected shotputters and discus throwers or else this could have ended much worse. Here are a few exclusive images taken at the scene…

So the police showed up in riot gear and helicopters circled and then it got crazy!

Police launched a full Bruckheimer-style offense!

All in all, 74 skaters were lost to the patriot missile strike launched by the LAPD. May they rest in peace.
