Many of us have experienced this first hand and a few of us have seen it happen to others, but this is a warning to all of you young bucks out there who are getting really good at snowboarding or skating or longboarding. S#it #appens. I could show you this exact same example in just about every sport captured by video, but we will start with Lindsey Jacobellis.
I know Lindsey wants to forget this and the last thing she deserves to be remembered for is this split second lapse in judgement, but instead of hiding from it I think we can all learn something from her painful mistake. You see, Lindsey had a 3 second lead in the Snowboard Cross event at the 2006 Winter Olympics. That’s like being a mile ahead in a marathon. On her second to last jump, wrapped up in the excitement, Lindsey went for a Method and ate it big time. That’s when the second place contestant, Tanja Frieden, blew past her and won Olympic Gold. Watching her parents’ reaction is painful…

Once again, we aren’t here to laugh at her misfortune, we are here to learn from it. Here are a few other showoffs that should have played it cool.
