This helmet is built for the everyday rider, offering robust protection in a durable, no-frills package. Its classic, skate-inspired design, often featuring unique “GA” gradient graphics, gives it a distinct look while providing reliable safety for all your adventures, from the snow-covered mountains of Utah to the city streets.

The Scout helmet utilizes Bombshell ABS Construction, which features an injection-molded ABS shell designed to withstand high impacts and offer exceptional durability and resistance against dents and dings. This tough outer shell is fused with an EPS foam liner to effectively absorb impact energy. For enhanced protection against rotational forces, many versions of the Scout helmet, including the “GA” models, come equipped with the MIPS® (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) Brain Protection System. MIPS is a low-friction layer positioned between the helmet’s outer shell and the liner, allowing the helmet to slide relative to the head during certain angled impacts, thereby helping to reduce the forces transmitted to the brain.

Comfort and adaptability are key for the active rider. The Scout features a Self-Adjusting Lifestyle Fit System, which uses elastic in the rear of the liner to flex and adapt to a wide range of head shapes and sizes, providing a snug and comfortable fit without the need for a traditional dial. This system also accommodates wearing a beanie underneath for extra warmth on colder days. Eight fixed vents ensure consistent airflow, helping to regulate temperature and keep you comfortable. Smith’s signature AirEvac™ Ventilation system is integrated into the design, working seamlessly with Smith goggles to pull warm, moist air away from your goggle lens, significantly reducing fogging and maintaining clear vision.

The Scout is truly an all-season helmet, carrying dual certifications (ASTM F 2040 & CE EN 1077:2007 Class B for snow sports, and CPSC & CE EN1078 for bike/skate). This means you can rely on the same helmet for winter shredding as you do for summer biking or skateboarding. It also includes removable Bombshell Ear Pads for customizable warmth and comfort, and a removable goggle strap lock for a streamlined look when goggles are worn under the helmet or removed entirely.
