Description
The Powell-Peralta Andy Anderson Heron Flight Deck is a highly innovative skateboard deck designed for advanced performance and durability, reflecting the unique style of pro skater Andy Anderson. The “Heron” graphic, often featuring a symmetrical bird motif, is a visual representation of his distinctive approach to skateboarding.
This deck utilizes Powell-Peralta’s advanced FLIGHT® Deck construction. This technology diverges from traditional 7-ply maple decks by using five thinner plies of hard rock maple, reinforced with two layers of high-strength fiberglass and bonded with epoxy resin. This construction method results in a deck that is:
- Thinner: Noticeably slimmer than conventional decks, contributing to a lighter overall feel.
- Stronger: Demonstrates significantly increased resistance to breakage, particularly in tail break tests, enhancing its lifespan and reliability.
- Lighter: Despite its enhanced strength, the Flight Deck is lighter than many standard 7-ply decks, aiding in quicker maneuvers and easier execution of tricks.
- Longer Lasting Pop: The unique composition provides “everlasting pop,” meaning the deck maintains its responsiveness and snap over a longer period, allowing for consistently higher ollies and faster flip tricks.
The Andy Anderson Heron Flight Deck is available in various shapes and concaves, each tailored to different preferences and skateboarding styles. Some common variations include:
- Shape 289 (8.45″ x 31.8″): This shape typically features a K20 Concave, which is a medium concave with mellow angles on the nose and tail. It’s engineered for consistent pop and level flip tricks, with balanced nose and tail lengths. The wheelbase is generally around 14.25″.
- Shape 290 (9.13″ x 32.8″): This version may feature a K21 Concave and a slightly longer wheelbase, typically around 15
