For over 10 years Jim Pitts has been trying to create a personal hovercraft in the form of a skateboard. He has had many iterations but he feels like this final design is the one that should be produced.
His idea is you can ride this longboard like a regular board but when you get to a gravel covered road on a spot on the boardwalk with a bit too much sand, you can flip it in hover mode and glide right over. He also says a lot of cool tricks can be done in hover mode that can’t be done with a regular board. You can read all about this project on Kickstarter right now and choose to fund it.
