There’s this amazing website called the Internet Archive Wayback Machine and what it does is it crawls the internet taking snapshots of websites and then catalogs them like a time machine. So all you gotta do is type in a url of your choice and go back in time and see how basic the internet used to be. Today I went back and checked some of our favorite brands when they were just getting started in the e-commerce biz. I actually remember these days when people would say stuff like “The internet will never catch on – no one would ever buy anything from it.” Nowadays I try and see if I can hire someone online to come feed my ass while I watch tv! Anyways, enjoy this trip back in time…in fact some of you probably weren’t even born yet and you have no idea how lame the internet used to be. These websites are from the following:
1996: Burton
1996: Mervin Manufacturing
1997: Dakine
1997: Oakley
2001: Lib-Tech
2004: DC
2004: 686
