Description
Boardkor Mako NOS Snowboard
Boardkor was a new company with a fresh take on snowboarding and amazing graphics to match. Each different color is a different type of wood, nothing stained, giving all Boardkor boards a unique and lively flex pattern. The Mako is a powder hound, thanks to the notch tail, tapered shape, and micro-camber with a massive, lifted nose. Micro-camber helps hold an edge when traversing to your next pow stash or speeding down a groomer between slashes. Unfortunately, Boardkor didn’t really take off, there were early production models to show at retailer shows, but they never went into production, making any still-new models INCREDIBLY rare and difficult to find. On top of the extremely small quantities that exist, they are truly works of art. A wood-worker’s dream, the use of many different woods to create naturally-made graphic, without use of dyes or pigments, makes the Boardkor boards special indeed.
Specs
1. Clear Iron
Boardkor uses Clear Iron on top to protect the wood veneer. Highly scratch resistant and able to take a beating over the long-term, Clear Iron TM excels in durability.
2. Wood Veneer Topsheet
Wood veneer on top dampens the ride without deadening the rebound. The wood layer on top absorbs vibrations and causes the board to ride smoother at higher speeds. All our boards feature natural wood veneer inlaid artwork handcrafted without any stain or printing.
3. Vektor 8 Carbon Fiber
Boardkor is the first snowboard manufacturer to use Vektor 8Â Â Â carbon fiber which has fibers radiating in 8 directions. Vektor 8Â Â Â is on our splitboards and custom designs which call for a combination of high performance and low weight.
4. Paulownia Wood Core
Hand-selected for density, Boardkor’s vertically laminated Paulownia wood core creates unprecedented rebound out of each turn.
5. Black Locust Sidewalls
The hardest wood ever used in a snowboard, Boardkor’s Black Locust sidewalls provide greater edgehold and smoother carves from nose to tail. Naturally waterproof and extremely hard, Black Locust is one of many performance innovations from Boardkor.
6. Quadraxial Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass Composite Structure
Boardkor’s Quadraxial Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass Composite Structure creates the ultimate in torsional rigidity across the entire snowboard width. Proven across all snow conditions to transmit more power to the edge and increase edge hold.
7. Japanese Vulcanized Rubber
Vulcanized rubber provides extra bonding strength.
8. High Carbon Steel Edges
Baordkor uses high carbon German steel edges that are hand bent without heat. Our edges are designed with extra large tabs and are fully bonded on the top surface to make it impossible to blow an edge.
9. Black Magik Base
Boardkor’s exclusive Black Magik base is the fastest and most rock-resistant base material on any snowboard. Made for us in small batches in Germany, Black Magik has the highest molecular weight of any sintered UHMW base and includes graphite for a superfast race glide.
