At its core, the MDXONE OX features a small, lightweight backpack (approx. 10″H x 8″W x 2″D) that doubles as a secure 5-point harness for your child. This ergonomic design ensures comfort and stability, with adjustable straps at the chest and waist to provide a snug, secure fit. For smaller or less confident learners, an optional/removable seat harness offers extra support, particularly useful for lifting a child from the snow or assisting them on and off chairlifts.
The most distinctive feature is the 16-foot retractable leash with two elastic bungee cords at the end. This unique leash design allows the instructor to control the child’s distance and speed with a simple push of a stop button (note: there is no lock button, only a stop/release). When the stop button is engaged, the bungee cords extend slowly, preventing any sudden, jarring effects on the student. This smooth control helps prevent front edge catches, assists with initiating turns, and allows parents to safely slow down or guide their child without the constant “human yo-yo” effect of a static rope.
With three attachment points for the leash on the harness, you can easily switch positions to practice going straight, riding on heelside, or toeside, making it incredibly versatile for teaching proper snowboarding technique.
