At its core, the Altus utilizes Ultra-Light In-Mold Construction, which fuses the exterior shell with the EPS foam liner to create a strong yet incredibly lightweight design. This is complemented by Smith’s innovative Aerocore™ Construction, featuring Zonal Koroyd® coverage. Koroyd® is a unique, honeycomb-like material that crumples on impact, absorbing energy more efficiently than traditional EPS foam, while also allowing for superior airflow. This zonal application provides critical impact protection where it’s most needed, without adding unnecessary weight.

For rotational impact protection, the Altus comes equipped with the MIPS® (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) Brain Protection System. MIPS® is a low-friction layer located between the helmet’s outer shell and the liner, designed to allow the helmet to slide relative to the head during certain angled impacts, thereby reducing the rotational forces transmitted to the brain.

The VaporFit™ Adjustable Fit System uses a rotary dial for a precise, 270-degree micro-adjustment, ensuring a snug and personalized fit without pressure points. Inside, the XT2® or Ionic+™ Anti-bacterial Performance Lining offers sweat-activated odor control for all-day freshness, and the removable, audio-compatible ear pads enhance comfort and allow for easy integration of your favorite communication devices.
