Skate Tech- A Love Story

Skate Tech popped into the world back in 2010, thanks to JP Pelchat a seasoned pro snowboarder who realized that snowboard bindings hadn’t changed much since the dark ages. It was like everyone was just copying each other’s homework! So, he decided it was time to shake things up and came up with Skate Tech, the biggest evolution in binding design since the invention of the High-back. Skate Tech can now be found in some of the most innovative brands on the market including Jones and NOW

Hanger (1)
Imagine your energy flowing straight from your legs into your edges—that’s what the Hanger does. It pivots on something called the Kingpin (we’ll get to that), which bypasses the clunky baseplate that all other bindings must flex through which in turn reduces response time. Skate Tech uses the same ideas behind a skateboard truck increasing leverage and hence gaining top tier edge response.

Kingpin (2)
The Kingpin is at the heart of it all; think of it as the boss pin holding everything together while allowing freedom of movement from heel to toe. This little guy is crucial because it lets you transfer power between edges without flexing the board through the baseplate—it’s all about keeping things smooth and connected only where needed.

Post (3)
This part ties everything together by linking both baseplate and hangers through our friend Mr. Kingpin again ensuring every move is fully utilized and minimum energy wasted!

Bushings (4)
Here’s where personal touch comes in—the bushings are adjustable so one can tweak their ride depending on mood or mountain conditions. Soft (Softy) bushings make riding playful; Medium (Mid Chub) gives a balance of playfulness, dampening and responsiveness; Stiff (Morning Missile) ones are for those who want maximum response and accuracy.
