Salty Peaks Staff Picks: Goggles

We asked our staff what goggles they are stoked on this year, and here’s what they said…

FOR THE GUYS…

Electric EGB2Jake chooses the Electric EGB2 Matte Black with the Bronze/Red Chrome Lens.
He says, “Besides the super sick murdered-out colorway, these goggles have one
the best cylindrical views on the market, with great peripherals and it’s not too
restricting around the nose. I also love the Bronze/Red Chrome Lens because it is
really versatile for all light conditions.

Oakley Splice Mountain KingTravis is stoked on the Oakley Splice Mountain King with VR50 Pink Iridium Lens
and the Dragon APX Lucky T’s with Green Ionized Lens. About the Oakley Splice
goggles he says, “The Splice takes pressure off your nose making it easier to
breathe while you are riding, plus Oakley has really good lens quality.

Dragon APXCarlos chooses the Dragon APX goggle and says, “The Dragon APX goggle is the
worlds only goggle without an outer frame. This gives a unique look as well as
creating a fit thats closer to your face, and gives boosted peripheral for those
tight tree runs. What I’m most stoked about on this pair is the hard case that
comes with! Go ahead, sit on em! SHRED AND DESTROY!”

Oakley A-FrameRandy is a long-time fan of the Oakley A-Frame goggle. He says, “The color of
lens that I highly recommend is the G30. This is a “ride in any light condition” lens.
The G30 lens from Oakley is a golf specific tint, but don’t let that throw you off.
The G30 lens makes the contours of the mountain POP in all types of light, from
flat to bright. The “G” in G30 is for “Golf” and the “30” indicates
the percentage of light transmissions that get let through the tint. To give you a better idea, a
clear lens let’s 98% light transmissions through. To top it off, Oakley has HDO®
and XYZ® optics which means that they’re optically corrected and have the
highest impact rate in the industry (about the force of what a 22 bullet has
once fired). The price for these goggles starts off at $130 and they are worth
every penny.”

Dragon RogueDrew and Zach are both stoked on the Dragon Rogue goggles. Drew says, “My
first pick goes to the Dragon Rogue goggle, which has been a favorite of mine
for quite some time. The low profile spherical shape and thin frame make this
goggle optically awesome, while remaining subtle and classy. My favorite
colorway/lens options this year are the DAP Onboard colorway and the Coal
colorway with the green ionized lens. If you are looking to spend a little less the
Dragon D2 goggle is a great choice with a retro style.”

Smith I/OJosh’s choice is the Smith I/O goggle. He says, “These are super quick lens
changing, great fitting, supersweet goggles. They have a porex filter which lets
the pressure change between lenses so they never fog. And they have clips in
the back so you don’t pull your beanie off. Get em, ride em love em.”

Anon Comrade

Jerry likes the Anon Comrade Painted Dredran goggle, and he says, “I like the
Comrade because it is oversized and murdered out. The perfect accessory for
anybody. This goggle is part of the A.B.C. crew (All Black Clothing).”

AND FOR THE LADIES…

Von Zipper SkylabLibby’s choice is the Vonzipper Skylab Whiteout Satin with the Gold Chrome
Lens. She says, “I want this google because it has a great fit and frame size for
my face. I tend to not like female specific goggles because they can be way
too small, this new Vonzipper frame is a nice medium fit comparible to the size of
the Electric EG2.5. The Skylab also has the features you expect from a good
goggle like a dual lens and anti-fog coating which reduces condensation and
minimizes the possibility of your goggles fogging up on you and ruining your pow
day.

Oakley ElevateSteph says, “The Oakley Elevate goggles have the perfect fit for my face plus
they have really great anti-fog technology, and that is everyone’s biggest
concern right? Well Oakley has got you covered with a dual venting system and
F3 anti-fog technology so you won’t be making unnessecary fog stops all the
way down the run.”

Spy Bia Les EttesErin loves the Spy Bias Les Ettes Goggle with the Yellow Contact Lens. She says, “I
always seem to have a hard time finding sweet lookin’ goggles that aren’t huge
on my face. So when I tried on the Spy Bias Les Ettes google, I was pretty
impressed. They fit really nice and snug against my face and the spherical lens
allows for optimal vision right in front of me, as well as side to side. The yellow lens
with a slight iridium coating is my favorite as well when riding in lowlight and
overcast conditions.”

Smith I/OEllery chooses the Smith I/O goggle. She says, “The Smith I/O’s are my favorite
goggles because they are essentially frameless so they give you really good
peripheral vision. They also have a porex filter which completely eliminates the
fog issue. This goggle fits my face perfectly, but if you have a smaller face you
could go with the Smith Heiress. The Heiress also has the porex filter and features
a great fit and classic shape.
