The Death of Skateboarder Magazine…AGAIN

Skateboarder Magazine was the first skateboard magazine ever. They released 4 issues in 1964-1965 and then abruptly quit. Fast Forward to the 1975 when skate technology got a little bit better (no clay or steel wheels), and Skateboarder Magazine was back in bi-monthly fashion. In 1977 it became a monthly publication but sometime in the 80’s it died again. Then in 1997 Skateboarder had another chance at life with an oversized special issue guest edited by Tony Hawk, which led to one more special issue in 1998, and then in 1999 it became a monthly publication once more until now…when it dies once again.

So for those of you who are super sad about the loss of Skateboarder Magazine, don’t be. By my calculations, Skateboarder will be back in 2023 with an oversized special edition. Then in 2024 there will be another oversized special edition and in 2025 they will announce Skateboarder Magazine’s triumphant return and their 60th Anniversary!
