This Week In Skateboarding News – Skateboard Crime Report

Skateboarding Crime Report

Let’s face it; for the most part, skateboarding has a pretty negative image. A large majority of the general public sees skateboarders as dirty, foul-mouthed, punks with no regard for the law or other people. While there are a number of skateboarders who could be considered rude and crude, it really sucks when a few idiots make us all look bad. I was searching the web today, simply for some interesting happenings to report, and I kept coming across skateboard related crimes. So since that seems to be what people want to read, I decided to post a few in the hopes that people would see what not to do, and maybe get a kick out of people being really stupid.

1. Man Breaks Into High School Cafeteria With a Skateboard

A man in Chula Vista, who was apparently already in jail since Dec. 2 for other charges, in now being charged for arson, burglary, and vandalism after new information arose about another crime. He allegedly broke into the Chula Vista High School lunchroom by smashing a window with a skateboard, then trashing the place and setting a fire before he left. Real great decision making skills there BRO.

2. Teenagers Rob Others of Their Skateboard With Fake Guns

In Salisbury, Maryland, 5 teenagers and a 35 year old woman are facing armed robbery charges for being idiots. 4 of the teenagers spray painted Airsoft guns and used them to steal a skateboard from two other teenage boys. While they were fleeing from police, the 35 year old and 5th teenager hid one of the suspects, as well as lied to police about doing so. Basically they are all in trouble because apparently 5 teenagers and an adult couldn’t just buy a single skateboard, they decided to steal one.

3. Rose McGowan Witnesses Skateboarder Participating in ‘Knockout Game’

This one is actually pretty shocking, and apparently many teens are participating it in around the country. The “game” is called Knockout, because that’s basically all you do. Groups of kids are walking by an unsuspecting victim, when at the last second they punch them in the face in an attempt to knock them out in one hit. It’s legitimately psychotic, but the latest incident was witness by actress Rose McGowan, and involved a teen on skateboard punching a man walking his dog as he rolled by. Rose tweeted about the incident, so follow the link to see her reaction.

Skateboarding is all about fun, pure and simple, so lets take a lesson from these morons and remember what not to do with or on our skateboards. Cheers.
