NEVER SUMMER PROTO SWIFT SNOWBOARD

For the 2027 season, the Never Summer Proto Swift ST expands its legendary surf-freeride lineage by offering three distinct tail geometries. This allows riders to precisely choose the level of tail-sink, carving snap, and switch-riding versatility they want. No matter which shape you select, each deck is built around Never Summer’s hyper-reactive Triple Camber Hybrid profile, a lively WooBoo Wood Core (bamboo, paulownia, and poplar), and R.I.P. Edge-Hold Technology for unrelenting grip on hardpack and ice.

By varying the tail cutout and surface area, the Proto Swift ST reconfigures your powder float mechanics and turn-exit release, mapping to three distinct riding styles:

Tail Shape Configurations

  • Swallowtail Variant

The ultimate deep-powder specialist. By removing a substantial V-shaped block of core material from the center of the tail, this shape drastically reduces surface area at the back of the board. In fresh snow, the tail automatically sinks like a boat hull, forcing the oversized, rockered nose to lift effortlessly without causing leg burn. It delivers a hyper-loose, highly maneuverable, and surf-inspired feel that turns on a dime in tight trees and deep bowls.

  • Dovetail Variant

The versatile, high-powered compromise. Featuring a shallower, inverted V-notch, the Dovetail configuration provides more surface area and structural stiffness than the Swallowtail, but still allows the back of the board to settle naturally in soft snow. It gives you incredible stability and driving power when blasting through chopped powder or heavy spring slush, offering a crisp, snappy rebound out of hard carves on groomed resort trails.

  • Standard Blunted freeride Variant

The all-conditions, all-mountain charger. Utilizing a full-width, traditional blunted square tail with a 20mm taper, this shape maximizes the board’s functional running edge and tail surface area. It offers massive stability at terminal speeds, reliable landing gear when dropping cliffs, and enough support to allow for emergency switch riding or freestyle trick execution when navigating technical big-mountain chutes.

Tail Geometry Performance Comparison

Attribute Swallowtail Dovetail Standard
Powder Nose Float Maximum (Effortless sink) High (Balanced sink) Moderate (Requires speed/stance drive)
Carving Tail Snap Playful & Loose Snappy & Power-Driven Powerful & Locked-In
High-Speed Stability Moderate / Nimble Very High Maximum (Zero chatter)
Switch Capability Emergency Only Limited Versatile
Best For Tree lines, deep bowls, surf-style slashing Open bowls, heavy chop, hard carving Hard charging, cliff drops, variable resort snow
