During the golden era of alpine snowboarding and race carving in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Burton Ultra Prime stood as a premier carving weapon for hardboot purists. The “Speed Blood” edition—celebrated for its striking, blood-red graphic and razor-thin waist profile—was custom-engineered for riders who demanded unyielding edge hold, high-G trench-digging turns, and raw velocity down hardpack groomers.

Designed strictly to be ridden with hard boots and plate bindings (such as Burton Race Plates, Emery, or Trench Diggers), the Ultra Prime featured a directional, narrow waist with a squared-off tail. This type of board construction eliminates tail washouts when railing deep carves at extreme angles.

⚠️ Collector / Retro Vault Note: Burton completely discontinued their alpine deck and hardboot plate binding lines in the mid-2000s to focus entirely on soft boot freeride and freestyle gear.
