The Vintage Burton MGX Hard Snowboard Boots are a legendary piece of alpine and carving snowboarding history. Originally released during the sport’s rapid development in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the MGX series was built for high-velocity edge hold, racing, and early asymmetric carving boards. Featuring a stiff, overlapping polyurethane plastic shell, these boots were engineered to transfer maximum power directly to plate bindings.
This specific pair is used and shows signs of age, including a notable crack in the outer shell. Due to the degradation of the plastic over the decades, these boots are no longer safe for riding on the mountain, as old polyurethane is highly susceptible to shattering under cold-weather pressure. Instead, this pair serves as a fantastic collector’s piece, historical display for a shop, or a restoration project for a vintage snowboard enthusiast.
