During the mid-2000s boom of bi-level snowskating (also known as snowdecking), Burton expanded their freeride street tech to offer specialized replacement subdecks for riders looking to customize their setups. The 2007 Burton Source Subdeck was built specifically as the lower ski component for Burton’s bi-level snowskates, giving street rail destroyers and backyard shredders maximum edge control without traditional bindings.

Designed to attach under a top deck via pivoting truck trucks or risers, the Source subdeck featured a narrow waist profile that allowed your toes and heels to overhang slightly. This leveraged natural foot leverage to carve into hardpack, hold a clean line on approaches, and pop off urban features just like a skateboard on snow.

⚠️ Collector / Vintage Note: Burton officially ceased production of their bi-level snowdeck line shortly after this era, making surviving subdecks highly sought-after artifacts for vintage collectors, custom snowskate builders, and split-skate tinkerers.

The 2007 Source subdeck packed real snowboard construction into a compact, skate-inspired micro-ski footprint.

• Wood Core Construction: Unlike cheap plastic single-deck snowskates, the Source subdeck was built using a true full-wood core. This provided damp vibration dampening, lively spring snap, and solid structural integrity off drop-ins.

• Extruded / Co-Ex Base: Engineered for high durability and minimal maintenance, the base was tough enough to handle abrasive snow conditions, backyard PVC rails, and street spots without requiring constant wax work.

• Full Perimeter Steel Edges: Features wrapped steel edges along the sidecut, providing authentic edge hold, stopping power, and carving control on icy terrain where traditional plastic snowskates slip out.

• Universal Deck Mounting Inserts: Integrated brass insert patterns allowed for seamless mounting with Burton’s proprietary snowskate trucks, as well as aftermarket risers from other legacy snowdeck brands.
